Description

The Center for Community Partnerships is a public service center at the Evergreen State College in great
need of a interactive computer database. The functions of the Center are to: 1) serve as a clearning house and
archive of opportunities and past work; 2) negotiate, broker and coach community-academic partnerships projects;
3) serve as a point of contact between academic programs and community organizations. The database would
serve all aspects of the work and services of the Center.

Expectations

The Center for Community Partnerships is scheduled to move into Seminar Phase II in Fall 2003.
Our immediate goals include 1) Secure funding for two permanent staff positions (we see the database
as an important tool for fundraising); 2) Create Local/Region Steering Committee(s); 3) Create a
National/International Advisory Committee 4) Establish the Community Mentors Program

What proposer can provide for Evergreen

As technicians of information systems we hope that this opportunity provides the students with a
valuable legacy. This database will serve many. We offer ourselves as collaborators and co-learners
acknowledging and valuing the collective process. We are committed to working with you
for this academic year. As community organizers we value hospitality and will find delicious ways
to support/sustain our good work.

Reasons to collaborate

The students in Community Information Systems are the perfect collaborators to design this interactive
database. Their technical expertise combined with their practical experience as students will assist
in designing a system which will serve the wide variety of constituents. We would very much enjoy
incorporating the values of reciprosity, reflection and community service into the design and
implementation of this project.
