So What?
"Cyberadvocacy" is changing
the political and social landscape.
Thanks to technology, organizations
like Moveon.org, a peace
organization, can leverage a staff of only four people
armed with
e-mail addresses to rally an army of 750,000 in a matter
of days.
"Texting" on cell phones
was used in the Philippines in 2001 to
rally crowds to topple the government of President Joseph
Estrada.
Learn how technology is being
used by non-profits in the US and
other countries to advance social change. Will the use
of technology
improve "civic intelligence" or do more harm
than good? Is
technology hurting native cultures? What lies ahead?
